Recommendation

Susan A:
I just read this book recently and was thoroughly engrossed in it. Two mysteries to be solved; well-drawn characters with a sympathetic, interesting protagonist; great atmosphere, setting (Australia), and pacing. I was immediately drawn into the story, and stayed there until the very end!
I love all of Jane Harper’s books.
That’s good to know! I just discovered her. Am working on the sequel to The Dry at present. Do you have any particular favorites of hers?
The Dry was my favourite of hers, so much so that I read it several times. Jane Harper is very talented.
Susan, I read them as they came out and don’t have them now because I passed them on to a friend. The only one that I have is The Exiles which I haven’t had time to read yet.
Let me know what you think of the sequel. I loved the Dry but haven’t read the other books in the series yet.
Love Jane Harper and this book too!
Also really enjoyed this book! So well written. She reminds me of Tana French in the quality of her writing.
Yes, I agree! A similar way of just drawing you right into the story; the words just flow seamlessly, and there’s a real sense of “place.”
I’m a fan as well!
Hi! I just read The Dry and immediately read Force of Nature. I am currently reading number 3 in the series, Exiles. I have enjoyed all 3. This was a good find for me.
I’m glad to hear that! I think it will be for me, as well.
I actually enjoyed the movie version of The Dry too. It was quite different than what I envisioned in my imagination when reading the book, but pretty good. I recommend reading the book first, though. I also think Harper’s descriptions and writing is excellent.
LOL! I just borrowed that from the local library and watched it this weekend, Maureen! I liked it, too. There were a few things I had to readjust in my mind, but overall, I was impressed with how well it stuck with the book’s storyline, and I thought it was quite well done and entertaining.
That’s too funny! It was a pretty faithful adaptation wasn’t it? There’s supposed to be a movie of the second book too but I’m not going to search for it until I’ve read the book first.
Oh, that will be something to look forward to! I’m still working on Force of Nature. Different atmosphere, but so far so good!
