“The Beautiful Mystery” is definitely at the top of my list of books worth rereading or reviewing before starting The Grey Wolf.
It’s highly recommended to read the entire series before reading The Grey Wolf, and to read the books in order. (The list of Gamache books in order is here: https://www.bookclubfriends.com/books-in-order/louise-penny-chief-inspector-gamache-series-books-in-order/)

I would also recommend giving “All The Devils Are Here” a reread as well as “The Beautiful Mystery” as you suggest. I just find myself wondering if I had missed any details in those books, as I’m slowly making my way through “The Grey Wolf”. Trying hard to read slowly and enjoy every sentence!!!

Now that I’ve read the book, I definitely agree that The Beautiful Mystery and All The Devils Are Here are two worth review before reading The Grey Wolf. But now that I’ve had my first read of the wolf, I may go back and refresh on the two before reading the wolf a second time.

I’m only half way through but I’m so glad I reread The Beautiful Mystery recently, in anticipation of The Grey Wolf. And I agree with Sophia too, State of Terror not a bad idea either. So many characters are reappearing!
