JA Jance

J.A. Jance is the New York Times best selling author of four different bestselling series including the the J. P. Beaumont series, the Joanna Brady series, the Ali Reynolds series and the Walker Family series.

Jance knew she wanted to be a writer from the moment she read her first Wizard of Oz book in second grade. She has always been drawn to mysteries and has gone on to write over 60 contemporary mysteries. Born in South Dakota and brought up in Bisbee, Arizona, Jance graduated from the University of Arizona. She has openly said that her writing ambitions were frustrated in college by a professor who didn’t think women could make a career as an author and by a difficult first marriage.

Eventually, Jance found her way back to writing by fitting it in to her busy life as a “single, divorced mother with two children and no child support as well as a full time job selling life insurance.” When she married her second husband a few years after her divorce she could concentrate more fully on writing. It took some time before she began to see commercial success but now her novels consistently rank as bestsellers around the world.
