Craig Johnson is the New York Times bestselling author best known for his series featuring the fictional Sheriff Walt Longmire. The Longmire series is set in Wyoming and combines elements of mystery, western, and contemporary fiction. Johnson has received numerous awards for the series including the Western Writers of America Spur Award for fiction, the Mountains and Plains Booksellers Award for fiction, the Nouvel Observateur Prix du Roman Noir, and the Prix SNCF du Polar.

His series has also been adapted into the popular television show, Longmire, which ran for six seasons. The novels are so popular that there is an annual summer festival called Longmire Days held in Buffalo, Wyoming, the town said to be the real-life inspiration for the fictional one in the books. Johnson lives with his wife on a ranch in Ucross, Wyoming.
