What are your thoughts on Dennis’ point of view? Have you ever found yourself in the position where the end justified the means, where you would do anything to accomplish a goal? What is the most striking thing you have done when motivated to achieve success?
This one was a true shocker. I didn’t see Dennis’ motives at all, although I guess there is a hint of something strange when he’s described as a ski instructor with a spare bedroom available. Real estate in ski resorts is expensive. Even the most senior ski instructors (and they’d have to be quite old to be in senior positions) do not earn a high income. So it’s a hint that Dennis is doing something on the side if he has the kind of success that is suggested in the book. Of course his actions are completely unrelatable. I could never think of doing anything close to what he does in the book. To achieve the goals I set out for myself, usually I’m the only one who suffers!!!
Irredeemable. But resentment and greed makes people do awful things.
