What are your thoughts on the dynamics between Hank and Polly? How do you feel about the pair as parents? How do you feel about the future of The Thompson family?
Hank and Polly seem desperately codependent. I’m not sure that they have an entirely healthy relationship and it’s worrying to think that Sadie will grow up in an environment with a mom who is very terribly unstable.
The dynamic between Hank and Polly is a complex one. At more than one point I thought she was extremely manipulative of her husband and it’s hard to view Polly as a particularly healthy individual, yet she does genuinely care for Hank and Sadie and will do her best to take care of them. As for Hank he has a strong moral code, which I think Polly underestimated. So of the two, I ultimately thought Hank was the stronger one, even though Polly tells us multiple times that she is. So on that front, I’m optimistic that Hank will take care of his family. Just don’t get in the way of their family!
