This is a reminder that we have now posted our discussion schedule for The Grey Wolf, with the first question to be posted on Nov 29th! With over two weeks of questions for our official discussion of The Grey Wolf, we had some excellent suggestions to extend our discussions past the current schedule.

If you are interested in a deeper dive into The Grey Wolf, please leave a comment below and include any questions or topics you would be interested in exploring further. Upvote any questions you would like to discuss.

What plot twist (red herring, reveal, etc) did you enjoy the most and why?

I definitely concur with the question immediately above this one. I found the evolution of the relationships between Armand and his “sons”, Daniel and Jean-Guy, intriguing and heart warming. I would be interested in others’ views on those.

The Black Wolf bingo card. What predictions do you have for The Black Wolf? Give us your best guesses for who we might see, where we might go, who might get revealed as a black or grey wolf? What else could go on a bingo card??

If you could ask Louise Penny anything about this book, what would it be?

A question for everyone. During our Wisdom of Gamache discussions we went through several topics including: a passage or scene that embraces the spirit of Three Pines, the humour of LP, a passage or scene with insight into human nature, a historical detail of interest, and an enticing food moment. Is this group of topics something you all might be interested in doing for The Grey Wolf as well?

I enjoyed all of those questions in the previous discussions. The time this story is set in Three Pines is short but all of the others seem like rich fodder for discussion and for individual recollections of the story.

What are your thoughts on this question: What flaws did you have issues with in The Grey Wolf? Are these flaws forgivable? Why or why not?

We never want to get too negative about books, we’re here to appreciate them. But we do want to acknowledge and explore all aspects of the books we discuss, as objectively as possible. Our philosophy is that nothing in life is perfect, but there can be beauty or a lesson to be learned in the imperfections.

Did you laugh or cry at any point during The Grey Wolf, and if so, what made you do so?

If you have read some or all of Louise Penny’s earlier books, how do you see both the books and the characters evolving?
