Do you think you could have been a codebreaker? Why or why not?
No, I don’t think I could work at deciphering or translating. I don’t have the mathematical skills like Beth or the mastery of a second language like Osla. Maybe I could do the work Mab did but I’m not sure I have her stamina and I’m not tall. 🙂 Something secretarial perhaps. But I do know I’m good at keeping confidences and secrets so I have that trait that would serve me well if I had to work at BP.
I wouldn’t be a good BP candidate. Although I do have fluency in French (and enjoy the mysteries of Jean-Christophe Rufin), I don’t have proficiency in other languages. My mind doesn’t lean toward solving mathematical puzzles; secretarial skills and running machines are not my strong suit. I have the greatest admiration for the women who engaged in those activities at Bletchley Park.
