Tips and Resources From Your Charles Finch Book Club Friends:

The gentleman detective Charles Lenox has often been likened to other literary sleuths Sherlock Holmes (Conan Doyle) and Lord Peter Wimsey (Dorothy L. Sayers). Set in Victorian times, Lenox is like these aristocratic detectives because he is so often pulled into solving crimes for the greater good. There’s always a heaping teaspoon of charm in Finch’s stories that mixes in with the suspense in the novels. There’s also a lot to enjoy about Lenox’s “life” in 19th century England and then the United States.

“When you’re finally a grown-up, one of the things you find is that there are no grown-ups.”

Charles Finch, The Last Enchantments
Anne-Marie Connor
“When I’m looking for a cozy armchair mystery with a little extra twist I pick up a Charles Lenox book. Finch does a great job of recreating the Victorian settings and I love his writing. The recommendation from Louise Penny got me reading him.”
