Hello friends,
Here is our new proposed discussion schedule – please let us know what you think and if we need to amend the schedule again. We are absolutely happy to try to accommodate everyone’s preferences, as much as that is possible.
You’ll see that we’ve now spread our scheduled discussions out as Nancy suggested, with one discussion per month, alternating between LP and a suggested/voted BOTM.
We love Jane’s suggestion of opening pop-up discussions when there is enough interest. You will now see an option to suggest a book as a pop-up, as opposed to the regular BOTM. Suggestion: shall we wait for a minimum of three votes to schedule a pop-up, and once three votes for a pop-up are received, the discussion will be scheduled within one to two weeks?
And, we can still schedule a hiatus anytime, just let us know. Flexibility and consideration of many options and opinions are good things, in our view.
Note: We’ll reserve Nov 15th as our start date to discuss The Black Wolf, unless there are any requests to reschedule.
Thanks for your feedback on our last post friends! As always, we’re happy to hear your thoughts on how we can make improvements on any topic.
I do love the new schedule and the idea of Pop-up discussions. I also agree with the idea of needing three votes to schedule a pop -up.
Once again I thank all of you at BCFs for all your hard work on our behalf. I treasure the friendships here so much and value your encouragement at this difficult time in our country’s life. It’s so good to know that Canadians realize that just because we live in the States it doesn’t mean we agree with the government.
Elbows and Flippers up!!!
I’m on board with the proposal outlined here and seconding what Libby wrote.
I think three votes for a “Pop up” discussion should work well.
We can always grant ourselves a “hiatus” even when a discussion is scheduled. Not every book/author will resonate with everyone and not every discussion will happen when someone has the time or bandwidth to join.
I have, however, already read authors because there was a discussion that I would probably not have tried otherwise, so that is a side benefit of the discussions for me.
I am personally looking forward to next week’s release of Anne Hillerman’s latest, “Shadow of the Solstice” even though it is not on any current list!
If The Black Wolf will only be released the end of October and might even be the beginning of November before a copy is obtained, that would mean only about two weeks before the discussion. Could that be delayed somehow?
We scheduled The Grey Wolf discussion for Nov. 29th last year, one month after release. This year, shall we schedule it for Dec 15th to ensure that there is enough time to receive and read the book?
Jane, we agree with everything you’ve written with exception of Anne Hillerman’s latest, “Shadow of the Solstice” not being on any list – Anne is on our recommended author list and her newest release is listed everywhere it is appropriate here, including our latest releases from recommended authors list! That’s all just to say that we love your taste in books and authors. It’s probably safe to say that we can claim the same is true for every one of our friends here. 😉
Libby, elbows and flippers up always, dear friend!!! Our American friends here remind us daily of all that is wonderful about the American people, and why the US became admired by citizens all over the world. LP writes about goodness existing in Three Pines, but we know this is true from our experiences here with you all.
Thanks!
Yes to Dec 15. Thank you!
I would just like leave a comment here to thank everyone here for participating in the discussions. You all are brilliant, insightful and well-spoken. I am grateful for such lovely company.
