Wonderful Jane!!
I had to Google “El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido!” Interesting! Are most people bilingual in NM Jane?
Susan, most people are not bilingual and I am not. Still, some phrases are well recognized and there is no or little stigma to being a Spanish speaker. Quite a few people can converse in Spanish and English and many grew up in homes where people spoke Spanish at home and English otherwise. But, we are not like Quebec where the majority of people comfortably and proficiently speak another language.
