Hello friends,
We’ve been thinking about the one month notice to read the selected Book of the Month before discussion on the 15th of every month. After seeing Susan’s comment regarding the waitlist on Libby/Hoopla, we realize that we should schedule discussions two to three months in advance to allow adequate time to borrow popular books. We would really like to accommodate and enable full participation for every member here, as much as that is possible.
Accordingly, we suggest setting the BOTM for Feb, Mar, and Apr based on the three books with the highest number of votes on Jan 15th. On Feb 15th, we’ll return to announcing a single BOTM for May 15th.
As always, we welcome your thoughts and ideas.
*Edit: The book with the most votes on Feb 15th will be the pick for discussion on May 15th; on March 15th, the announcement for June’s BOTM will be announced. This should give us three months to prepare after a book is voted for discussion.
Thanks! That works for me and I think I will appreciate the extra planning time also.
Me, too. I like the extra planning time.
Thank you so much for your consideration. Please don’t hold things up on my account, but if others are having the same problem, then maybe that will work better in the long run. I was surprised to have so much difficulty getting hold of The Frozen River, as our local library’s net for nabbing books has usually been reasonably quick before. They’re saying that there are hundreds ahead of me for this selection, though (although the Large Print version might eventually be the most accessible. I’m waiting to find out). Oh well — I’m just glad to see that there’s evidence out there that a lot of people still like to read!
Do you mean “On Feb 15, we’ll return to announcing a single BOTM for May 15th?” Because you said the three books with the highest number of votes would be for February, March and April.
Yes!!! Thank you, Nancy. That is exactly what we meant. The post has been corrected.
There were two of us who read/proofread this post before publication, and we can’t even blame autocorrect for this mistake! Sigh.
I love all the planning time I can get. Count me in however it turns out!
